AstroFest Celebrates Outstanding Astrophotography at Parkes Observatory

The Central West Astronomical Society (CWAS) recently hosted its annual Festival of Astronomy, AstroFest, drawing astronomy enthusiasts and visitors from across Australia and the local region. A highlight of the festival was the presentation of the prestigious David Malin Awards, which recognise excellence in astrophotography.

As part of the celebrations, an exhibition featuring the winning David Malin Awards images was officially opened in the Bowen Room at the Parkes Observatory Visitors Centre. The display showcases some of the finest astrophotography produced in this year’s competition, offering visitors a spectacular view of the night sky through the lenses of talented photographers.

To commemorate the awards, a special Astronomy Calendar 2027 has been produced featuring a selection of the winning images. The calendar is available for purchase from the Parkes Observatory Visitors Centre.
